Dr. Rodolphe Gentili
Team Mentor
The central theme of Dr. Gentili's research is to understand the brain processes underlying human motor behavior by employing experimental cognitive-motor neuroscience, computational modeling and robotics-based approaches.
Jodi Coalter
Team Librarian
Jodi Coalter is the Life Sciences Librarian at the University of Maryland. As liaison to several science departments, including Biology, Geology, Entomology, Cognitive and Neuroscience, and Cell Biology & Molecular Genetics, she is responsible for connecting faculty and staff to resources that help in instruction and research. Her research focuses on the preservation and digitization of analog science data to create continuous data sets, as well as exploring new and beneficial ways of teaching information discovery in the sciences.
Maxine Asenso
Financial Liaison
Maxine is an Economics and PPE double major and French Studies minor from Gaithersburg, MD. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, spending time with friends and family, and/or sleeping. On campus, she is a student ambassador for the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences and a member of the University of Maryland Gymkana Troupe. Maxine hopes to attend law school after her time at UMD, and specialize in health law.
McCauley Brown
Library Liaison
McCauley is a Cell Biology & Genetics and Spanish double major from Frederick, MD. Outside of Gemstone, she participates in the Language House program. She serves as the Vice President of Out in STEM and the Secretary of PERIOD, and volunteers as a mentor for the Girls Excelling in Math and Science program in Prince George’s County. She also works in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Gabriel Dayanim

Gabe is a Neuroscience major from Philadelphia, PA who hopes to pursue a career in medicine. In addition to being part of Gemstone, Gabe is a campus ambassador for Gift of Life, a volunteer EMT at College Park Volunteer Fire Department, a bassist in the University of Maryland Repertoire Orchestra, and an active member of the UMD Hillel.
Erin Doyle

Erin is a Neuroscience major and a Hearing and Speech Sciences minor. After college, she plans to attend graduate school for clinical audiology. In addition to her studies at UMD, she is an active member of the Terrapin Record Label and works at a local bakery.
Maya Greenbaum
Library Liaison
Maya is a kinesiology major, with plans to pursue a career in physical therapy. Outside of Gemstone, Maya is actively involved in the Hillel and the Students for the Ethical Treatment of Animals club. Maya dedicates her time to serving in campus ambassador and fellow positions for organizations such as Gift of Life, Yavneh, and The Humane League.
Gabrielle Lavarias

Gabrielle is a bioengineering student from Abingdon, MD. She participates in the Filipino Cultural Association and the Hip Hop Orchestra in addition to her academic studies at University of Maryland. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, drawing, and spending time with her friends.

Natalia is a biochemistry premed major with an interest in psychology. She is from Hanover, Maryland, but was raised on the west coast. Natalia's hobbies include photography, painting and reading.
Christina Nguyen

Christina is a Biochemistry major and Spanish minor from Germantown, MD. On campus, she is involved in VSA, KSA, intramural volleyball, as well as volunteers as a research assistant at the Comprehensive Assessment and Intervention Program (CAIP) lab. In her spare time, she loves hanging out with friends and supporting UMD at sports events!

Ashley Russell is a sophomore Neurobiology and Physiology major from Ellicott City, MD. She is a member of Phi Delta Epsilon international pre-medical fraternity. In her free time, she enjoys running, reading, and listening to jazz music.

Alexys is a Economics major and German minor from West Deptford, New Jersey. She serves as the Program's Director of the Black Honors Caucus and works for UMD Resident Life. She enjoys attending UMD basketball games, reading, and traveling. In the future, she hopes to pursue a career overseas.
Carolyn Subramaniam

Carolyn is a Public Health Science major with a minor in Nonprofit Leadership & Social Innovation. She works as a Resident Assistant with ResLife. She loves animals and spends a lot of time working with various local animal rescues. Other than that, she enjoys graphic design, quilting, and seeing friends and family.
